This is a very good signed copy of the first edition of the definitive account of the rare book trade in the first part of the 20th century.  A.S.W. Rosenbach (1876-1952), born and educated in Philadelphia, was a pre-eminent antiquarian and rare book dealer who also advised many collectors such as Henry E. Huntington, Henry Clay Folger, and Harry Elkins Widener.

In 1927, Rosenbach wrote a series of articles about book collecting that appeared in the Atlantic Monthly.  Those articles became the foundation of this book.

Published November, 1927.  First trade edition.  Signed by the author on the blank following the title page.
