First Edition.  Half olive calf with marble boards.  Spine with raised bands, gilt ornament featuring crowns and gilt "Queen Caroline."  Selections from political speeches edited by the essayist William Hazlitt.  Handsomely bound, with a little peripheral wear.  Interior is generally bright with scattered foxing.  Condition is overall Very Good.  Rare.

"The Queen's Business" took the estrangement of Caroline from her husband George, Prince of Wales (the future King George IV), and turned it into a political and social scandal that absorbed the nation.  This collection of speeches by politicians, delivered around Great Britain on the subject of Caroline's alleged infidelities and George's barring her from his coronation, is itself proof of the degree of public interest.
