The editor notes that this publication, the first of its kind in the city and five years in the making, presents the Black community of Philadelphia and will serve as a “flexible, practical reference.”   He dedicates the book “To Black Youth Whose Impatience with Yesterday’s Generation Is Hope for ALL Our Tomorrows.”  Sections include a Profile of the Negro Community in Philadelphia, a map of the city’s population distribution, a directory and advertising, and lists of names and contact information of residents in these categories:  Business & Industry, Communications, Education, Government, Health Services, Negro Businesses, Organizations, Religion, Skilled Trades, and Social Services.
