A very good first edition copy of this military history by retired General John McAuley Palmer (1870-1955).  It takes as its starting point a previously undiscovered treatise by George Washington, written at the close of the Revolutionary War, on the subject of the future defense of the United States, and proceeds to examine Washington, Lincoln, and Wilson as leaders in wartime.

First edition.
