Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD+ condition, with a VERY GOOD DJ under Mylar.

• Gray covers are mostly clean, with gilt text.  Boards show a little shelf wear.  Corners are sharp.  See photos. 
• Spine has gilt text and is bright with softened ends.
• Binding is strong.  
• Pastedowns and feps have some light toning, some rumpling at edge of ffep, a tiny chip at head edge.  See photos. 
• Interior is gently age-toned.  Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks. 
• Text block edges have a few marks.  See photos. 
• Photo illustrated DJ looks nice behind Mylar and is backed with archival paper.
• Close examination of DJ shows some bumping and edgewear, chipped corners, closed tears and small chips along head edge, some soiling to back cover, price-clipping of front return.  See photos.

First English Edition.  Publisher's charcoal cloth with gilt title to top board.  With photo-illustrated dust jacket as issued, price-clipped, now behind archival Mylar.  Boards and binding are very good, interior is unmarked.  Gently toned interior, some rumpling at edge of ffep and half-title, a few marks to the text block edges.  Overall a Very Good Plus copy of this critically acclaimed French novel.

Alain Robbe-Grillet (1922-2008) was a French writer and filmmaker.  He was one of the figures most associated with the Nouveau Roman ('new novel') trend of the 1960s.  The Voyeur is Robbe-Grillet's third and most-acclaimed novel.  First published in 1955, it appeared in English translation in 1958.
