• Leather covers have gilt ruled bands and black label at spine. 
• Boards show some wear, smudges, scuffing, edgewear.  Corners are worn, with exposed board.  See photos.
• Spine has black label with gilt text dimmed and is worn with chipped ends.  See photos.
• Binding is secure. 
• Pastedowns and feps have some notable foxing, writing.  See photos.   
• Interior is toned, exhibits moderate to heavy foxing, some bent corners, a few pencil marks. 
• Text block edges have all edges dyed deep blue-green, with dye extending to board edges as well.  See photos.

First edition.  Original full calf boards retain black label and traces of gilt ruling on spine.  Boards show wear concomitant with age and use, binding is secure.  Dark blue-green dye to all edges.  Interior is toned with considerable foxing.  Unmodified original condition is Good.

The Trial of Antichrist, otherwise the Man of Sin, for High Treason against the Son of God is a satirical book formatted as a mock state trial or court proceeding, in which the Pope is charged with High Treason against the King of Heaven for usurping his Supremacy, dignified Titles, Power, etc.  Witnesses testify to the accused's treason starting in the year 606; as such the book serves as an allegorical summary of Protestant ecclesiastical history and scriptural interpretation.

Written anonymously by "A Friend to St. Peter," while simultaneously claiming authorship of his other works, the work is attributed to the Rev. William L.S. Gregory.  Gregory was an early 19th-century author and religious writer known for his shorthand/stenographic satirical trial texts with theological themes.
