Richard Dawkins (b. 1941) is a British evolutionary biologist, zoologist, and science communicator. Best known for his 1976 book The Selfish Gene, Dawkins popularized a gene-centric view of evolution. He also coined the term "meme" to describe a cultural unit of information or behavior that replicates, mutates, and evolves in a manner similar to a gene. Thirty years after The Selfish Gene, Dawkins wrote The God Delusion, a polemical work which pointed out the logical fallacies in religious belief and ultimately concluded that the laws of probability preclude the existence of an omnipotent creator.
