  • Aegean blue covers with gilt illustration to top board.  Quarter leatherbound. 
  • Boards show some exposure to edges, smudges, a bump at foot, edgewear.  Corners are bumped at back cover.  See photos.  
  • Spine has gilt text on label, sunned, with firm ends, some darkening.  See photos.  
  • Binding is strong.  
  • Illustrated end papers/ pastedowns show some toning at edges. 
  • Frontispiece is present and has intact tissue guard.  
  • Illustrations are bright and clear, plates are tipped-in, with tissue guards.
  • Interior is gently age-toned, exhibits marginal toning.  Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
  • Text block edges have deckle fore and foot edges.

Limited numbered edition.  Houghton Mifflin, The Riverside Press.  Quarto.  Publisher's Aegean blue cloth with gilt illustration, one quarter tan pigskin.  Signed by the translator and illustrator, with prefatory remarks by each.  Illustrated with sixteen color plates by N.C. Wyeth.  Boards show some exposure at periphery but are generally very good.  An owner's name on front end paper; the interior is otherwise unmarked, gently toned.  Condition is overall Very Good Plus for this signed numbered edition.

This translation of the Odyssey is the work of George Herbert Palmer (1842-1933), American scholar and author who spent his teaching career at Harvard.  The illustrations are by N.C. Wyeth (1882-1945), American painter and illustrator.  

Edition of 550 copies, signed and numbered.  Printed at the Riverside Press, Cambridge, Mass.
