The poems of Kathleen Norris are imbued with spirituality and feeling. They express the conflict of the human soul with life and with death, and evoke in turn darkness and light, pain and joy, anguish and comfort. This collection gives an overview of her beautiful, heart-searching style through 26 poems that explore the themes familiar to the author.

Kathleen Norris (b. 1947) is an American poet and essayist. Her first book of poetry was published two years after she became arts administrator of the Academy of American Poets. Seventeen years later in 1986 she became a Benedictine oblate at Assumption Abbey Richardton ND, and this marked a period of focus on death and depression in her literary works.
