This is the first bound edition for these French classics of 13th century French Medieval literature. "Aucassin and Nicolette" is written as a chantefable: an adventure story that alternates between sung verse and recited prose. The story itself is known for being a witty and clever parody, as well as a love story. Written in French. This rare first edition is a fine example of 18th century printing. 80 pages. 4.5 x 7.25 inches.

• A beautiful antique book, printed on quality paper, and nicely preserved through the years.
  
• Quarter-bound leather with paper marble boards.
• Spine has four raised bands and bright gilt
• Binding is intact, but a bit delicate
• Shoulders are well-scuffed, with cracking from the ends.
• Covers have moderate edgewear with exposed board at corners
• Boards have some scuffing and dirt.
• Head and tail of spine are broken off.
• Binding is secure
• Inside pages are free of marginalia or underlining.
• Scattered foxing throughout
• ffep has 4 penciled numbers
• Some of the page edges are a bit rough, with notable tears on lower corner of pages iii and 73.
• A few other pages are chipped/worn/torn to varying degrees along the foot edge, but far from the text.
• Pages are lightly tanned, with darkening along the edges.
