A very good first edition copy of this volume of speeches made by Winston Churchill.  Covering a period of four years, the speeches correspond to Churchill's early years as an MP and Cabinet minister in the British government.  The oratory and power of expression that would make Churchill such a compelling political leader are present already at this early date in his career.

The book is housed in a handsome binding from Bayntun (Riviere) Bindery of Bath, England.

Of interest also is the provenance.  The bookplate inside the front cover comes from Cragwood, the Far Hills (NJ) estate that was home to Charles W. Englehard Jr. and his wife Jane.  Jane Engelhard (1917-2004) was an American philanthropist and arts patron, and it is from her estate that this book comes.

First edition, per the publisher's information.  Printed by Hazell, Watson & Viney, Ld., London and Aylesbury.
