Mikhail Aleksandrovich Menzbir (1855-1935) was a prominent Russian zoologist whose early 20th-century work, including studies around 1900, documented the ecology, distribution, and habits of Russian birds.  The book here for sale is Volume 3, plates, of his three-volume study.

The illustrations are the work of prominent ornithological illustrators of the period.  Many of the plates are by Archibald Thorburn (1860-1935), a Scottish artist known for his watercolors of birds in their environment.  Most of his work is devoted to the birds of the British Isles.  Other plates, signed JGK, are by John Gerrard Keulemans (1842-1912), who worked extensively in the British Isles and contributed illustrations to many works including the British Museum Catalogue of Birds.
