Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD+ condition, with a VERY GOOD DJ under Mylar.

  • Gold cloth covers are mostly clean, with blind stamped badge to top board, green label and gilt title to spine.   
  • Boards show a little sunning at foot edge, some shelf wear.  Corners are sharp.  
  • Spine has gilt text on green ground and is bright with firm ends.
  • Binding is strong. 
  • End papers/ pastedowns show little to no sign of age or wear.
  • Illustrations are bright and clear.  
  • Interior exhibits minimal signs of age and wear.  Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
  • DJ looks great behind Mylar and is backed with archival paper.

First English Edition.  Three volumes in one.  Publisher's gold cloth with gilt title on green ground to spine.  Dust jacket, as issued.  A little sunning to the lower edge of the boards and to the spine of the jacket.  Binding is square and tight, interior is bright.  For this edition, all the original 1278 illustrations have been reproduced; to them have been added 136 new color photographs.

Henri Vever's survey of the jewelry produced in Paris from the Empire to the Art Nouveau period, first published in three volumes 1906-1908, has long been the definitive source of vital information for all those in the jewelry profession.  With this translation by Katherine Purcell, Vever's insights are available to an English readership.
