The author John Weathers (1867-1928) was a lecturer of Horticulture to the Middlesex Country Council in England.  Beautiful Roses was intended as a guide to those who didn't have a thorough knowledge of the 'Queen of Flowers', but who wished to learn.  This book looks at different varieties of roses, as well as including information on when and where is best to grow roses, how to prune and propagate them, and how to train them to grow up walls or arches.  The thirty-three colored plates were illustrated by John Allen.
