A very good copy of this first American edition of Geoffrey Gorer's work of travel, exploration, and anthropology, with the original dust jacket.  Geoffrey Gorer (1905-1985) was an English anthropologist and writer known for his application of psychoanalytic techniques to the practice of anthropology.

The outcome of a journey taken to West Africa with the dancer Féral Benga, whom Gorer met in Paris, this work observes and describes the cultural practices of native West Africa, both isolated from white Europeans and as affected by European colonialism.
