This is the story of the most famous dog team in the world, driven by Eli the mail carrier.  He and his team traveled from Nome, in far Northern Alaska, thousands of miles to Washington D.C., where they were received by President Theodore Roosevelt at the White House.  The narrator is Wolf, the team leader.  Wolf was born in a cave, trapped in the wilds of Alaska, and then went on to become a remarkable team leader, leading his mates all the way from Nome to Washington.

The illustrations are the work of Edward A. Poucher (1882-1966).  Poucher was one of those numerous, talented, prolific illustrators about whom little is known except their printed works.  In addition to cover art such as is seen on this book, Poucher worked as a fashion illustrator and in advertising.  His signature varied from "Poucher," to just "EP" in a circle or "P."  [American Art Archives]

First edition.  Published September, 1910.
