The American painter and adventurer Rockwell Kent (1882-1971) spent six months on Fox Island, located off the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, with his young son Rockwell. Wilderness is an illustrated journal which records that period between August 1918 and March 1919. Kent kept his journal as a record for his family, and its tone is fresh and unselfconscious. Illustrated with the author's drawings, reproduced as engravings made under the supervision of William G. Watt.
Printed at The Knickerbocker Press in New York.
