Softback is overall in VERY GOOD condition, with a GOOD slipcover.

• Illustrated wraps show some smudges, edgewear, a small scrape at head edge, a split at hinge.  Corners are softened.  See photos.
• Spine is reinforced with tape.  See photos. 
• Binding is fragile, with some gatherings loose. 
• Illustrations are bright and clear, some plates are tipped-in, others are full sheets with intact tissue guards.  
• Interior is gently age-toned.  Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
• Slip cover of tan board with black titles and illustrated label has head and foot panels absent, splits at seams, smudges, edgewear.  See photos.

One of the great art periodicals of all time, in the English edition.  Wraps by Aristide Maillol in color embellished with gilt.  Richly illustrated with b/w illustrations, color plates (partly tipped-in) and 12 original lithographs in color by George Braques, Fernand Leger, Pierre Bonnard, Henri Matisse, Paul Klee, among others.  All present and in very good condition.  Scarce in its original slipcase.  Condition is Very Good- with reinforcement to spine, split to front cover hinge and loose gatherings.  Interior is Very Good, with all plates Very Good and complete.

This is the double issue 5/6 from July/October 1939 of Verve, the French Review of Art.  Advertised on the slip case as the "World's Fair Number:  World of Tomorrow/ Man of All Time.  220 Portraits by the Greatest Artists from the 11th to the 20th Century."  Essays translated from the French by Robert Sage.
