Kenneth Grahame's The Wind in the Willows was first published in 1908, and it has seen innumerable printings. Nonetheless, the Limited Editions Club edition here for sale stands out for its craftsmanship, visual beauty, and reverence for the text. The sixteen color illustrations are the last illustration work by Arthur Rackham (1867-1939), the only one of his major works to be first published posthumously. Only the LEC edition includes all sixteen color illustrations; later editions featured only twelve.
Per the Colophon, designed by and printed under the supervision of Bruce Rogers. Printed at the Walpole Printing Office (of Peter Beilenson). Edition of 2020 copies, of which this is #1934. Signed by Bruce Rogers.
