Hardback set is overall in VERY GOOD+ condition.

• Half leatherbound covers are mostly clean, with gilt motif. 
• Boards show some exposure, tenderness at shoulder, edgewear.  Some corners are scuffed.  See photos.  
• Spines have gilt text a little dimmed and are sunned with firm ends.  See photos.
• Bindings are strong.  
• Marble end papers/ pastedowns show little to no sign of age or wear.
• Frontispieces are present and have intact tissue guards.
• Illustrations are bright and clear, have tissue guards.
• Interiors are gently age-toned.  Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
• Text block edges have deckle fore and foot edges, gilt along head.  See photos.

Édition de Luxe, 100 copies printed.  Ten volumes, 12mo.  Half dark green calf with marbled boards, matching end papers, and gilt title to the spine.  "Bibliophilist Series" stamped in gilt on top boards, with lamp motif.  Color frontispieces in each volume, plus illustration plates.  Leather is sunned, notably at spine, and some volumes show tenderness along shoulders.  Interiors show a little toning commensurate with age, are unmarked and clear.  Condition is Very Good Plus.  A very handsome set, highly collectible.

This edition of Jane Austen's novels is edited by R. Brimley Johnson (1867-1932), a literary critic, editor, author, and publisher.  Each novel in the series bears a brief preface by Johnson, whose specialization was nineteenth century novelists.  

The illustrations are the work of two brothers, Charles Edmund Brock (1870-1938) and Henry Matthew Brock (1875-1960).  They were two of four artist brothers, all of them illustrators, who worked together in their family studio in Cambridge.  In addition to painting, C.E. Brock and H.M. Brock were widely published illustrators and line artists, whose work appeared in Punch and books such as the set here.  A few of the plates are dated 1898 by the artist's signature.

Édition de Luxe.  This is copy #8 of 100 printed, per the limitation page.  No publication date given.  Likely 1910s to early 1920s.  Printed by Richard Clay & Son, Limited, London & Bungay.  Clay & Son specialized in book printing in the early 20th century, providing press work for clients including the Nonesuch Press.
