First Edition.  Publisher's gray cloth with illustrated cover stamped in black and yellow ink, "Klondyke" (sic).  Profusely illustrated with black & white photographs and duotone drawings.  Boards a little bowed at front edge, some edgewear and crushing of spine ends.  Interior is unmarked and generally fresh.  Fore and foot edges are untrimmed, giving a ragged look from the outside.  Very scarce outside of institutions.  Condition is overall Very Good.

A satirical novelization of the author's grueling experiences as a medical doctor during the "Famine Winter" of 1897–1898 in the early days of the Klondike Gold Rush, recounted by "His Next Best Friend."  Marked by what is referred to as "Klondike humor."  Reproductions of photographs capture life in the town of Dawson.
