Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

• Three-quarter leatherbound covers, black with burgundy cloth, are mostly clean, with gilt text on burgundy spine label. 
• Boards show some smudges.  Corners are bumped.  
• Spine has raised bands, gilt text on burgundy label, and is bright with bumped ends.
• Binding is recased.  See photos. 
• Marble end papers/ pastedowns show little to no sign of age or wear.
• Original feps have some staining, wear.  See photos. 
• Ex libris Samuel Yellin, stamped on the title page.  See photos. 
• Illustrations, engravings, are clear, with marginal age-toning.  
• Interior is gently age-toned, exhibits marginal toning, some smudges, light edgewear, a couple closed tears.  See photos.  
• Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
• Text block edges have gilt along head, are stamped Samuel Yellin along fore edge, have a few marks along foot.

Works in Wrought Iron, from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, offers a visual record of iron work from the 12th to 17th centuries.  The author chose pieces that had artistic value, above and beyond their utility.  The 84 engraved plates are clear and detailed, and the text pages offer description and information for each plate.  

From the library of Samuel Yellin (1884-1940), master blacksmith and designer, whose workshop was located at 5520 Arch Street in Philadelphia.
