A complete, generally very good copy of this Report on the Progress of the Geological Survey of the State of New Jersey, for the year 1855.  Prepared under the direction of William Kitchell, State Geologist.  The object of the topological survey was to examine the geological formations within the state's borders and to supply a complete physical map of each of the state's counties.  This survey was an on-going project, and this is the second annual report on the survey's progress.  

Illustrated with thirty-six woodcut plates.  Also included are two lithographed, fold-out maps.
