Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD+ condition, with a VERY GOOD DJ under Mylar.

  • Chambray blue covers are mostly clean, with red text.  Top board shows a small bump at foot.  Corners are sharp.  See photos. 
  • Spine has red text and is bright with bumped ends.
  • Binding is strong. 
  • End papers/ pastedowns show little sign of age or wear.
  • Interior exhibits minimal signs of age and wear.  Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
  • Text block edges have publisher's ink at head, untrimmed fore edges. 
  • Color illustrated DJ looks great behind Mylar and is backed with archival paper.
  • Close examination of DJ reveals some edgewear, chipped corners, closed tears, some wear along spine.  See photos.

First Edition.  Publisher's chambray blue boards with red ink title, beneath dust jacket printed in blue and red with white title and cartoon illustrations.  A Very Good Plus copy of this stylish edition; text block is tight, ink at head is bright, page layout generous in font, with ornamental device at head of each page.  Free of any markings. 

Benjamin Appel (1907-1977) was a New York City-born novelist particularly known for his detective and crime fiction.  Runaround was one of his early novels; this tale of vote snatching captures the rough and ready tone of city machine politics.
