First Edition.  Publisher's red cloth, with title in gilt to spine.  Signed and inscribed on the front end paper.  No jacket.  Gilt is dimmed, some sunning to the spine.  Binding is strong, text block flexible and unmarked.  Condition is overall Very Good with an interesting association.

The inscription is to Houston Peterson (1897-1981), a professor of philosophy at Rutgers University.  Peterson was known for his dramatic lectures, both in the classroom and in public forums, particularly a series held at Cooper Union from 1938-1946.
