In their opening remarks, Ali Kepenek writes that it was "a dream of mine to have a platform that didn't limit photographers, stylists, and other creatives... All of our stories are that precise hybrid of art and fashion which we felt was missing in current fashion and photography magazines."  "King Kong doesn't deal in trends.  Instead, we focus on being independent of time, giving ourselves the freedom to mix archive work with the newly commissioned.  ... We wanted our eyes to be captivated and our brains to be electrified."
