The first edition of this photocentric biography of the life and work of Homai Vyarawalla (1913–2012), published as a UNESCO-Parzor Publication. A second edition was issued in 2010 at the time of a retrospective exhibition of her work entitled 'Homai Vyarawalla: A Retrospective,' which ran from August to October 2010 at the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi.
Homai Vyarawalla, known also by her pseudonym Dalda 13, was India's first woman photojournalist. She began her career in 1938 working for the Bombay Chronicle, and then worked for the British Information Services from the 1940s until 1970 when she retired. This monograph uses this pioneering female photographer's large body of work to narrate the history of post-independence India.
