- Burgundy buckram covers are mostly clean, with silver title at spine.
- Boards show some edgewear. Corners are scuffed. See photos.
- Spine has silver text and is bright with softened ends.
- Binding is strong.
- Pastedowns and feps have some toning.
- Author signature at front end paper. See photos.
- Frontispiece, a black and white photo image, is present.
- Illustrations are bright and clear.
- Interior is gently age-toned, exhibits some marginal toning. Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
- Text block edges have publisher's ink at head.
- DJ looks great behind Mylar and is backed with archival paper.
- Close examination of DJ reveals light edgewear including possible bumps, rubbing, and/or tiny closed tears, some small chipping at spine ends, a little soiling. See photos.

New American edition, augmented. Signed by Ozenfant on the front end paper. Translated from the French by John Rodker. Publisher's burgundy buckram with silver title at spine. With original unclipped dust jacket, beneath archival Mylar sheath. A little exposure along the periphery, but condition is overall Very Good Plus with a Very Good dust jacket. Interior is unmarked, binding is firm and square.
Amedée Ozenfant (1886-1966) was a French painter and founder, with Le Corbusier, of the art movement Purism. His theoretical work Art was first published in French in 1928, and then translated in English as Foundations of Modern Art in 1931. In it, Ozenfant In 1952, Dover Publications issued the first American Edition, augmented.
