First edition copy of this scarce early 19th century work on electricity and its uses in medicine.  Contemporary calf binding shows its age and handling.  Unmarked interior, and pleasantly readable text block follows the Author's preface; an Index is at the back.  Chipping at spine ends and signs of cracking at shoulders affects the alignment of early gatherings, which remain intact.  Condition is overall Very Good Minus.

The author, T. Gale, is known only by this work.  He, and it, have their place in early 19th century science and medicine in the young United States, with an emphasis on self-treatment and the combining of science and spirituality.  The Title Page offers this summary of Dr. Gale's approach, which comprehends the  "theory and pracice of Medical Electricity; and to be an infallible cure of fever, inflammation, and many other diseases:  constituting The Best Family Physician ever extant."
