Translation: The Avengers: A Novel from the Revolutionary Period. 

Text in German. This scarce special limited edition is signed by A. de Nora on the colophon, noted as number 42 of 330 printed. A. de Nora was the pseudonym used by Anton Alfred Noder (1864-1936), a German doctor and poet.

All seven b/w etchings are signed by notable German artist Ferdinand Staeger (1880-1976). Etchings are somewhat erotic or suggestive. 65 pages. 8" by 10". 

Published by L. Staackmann. Leipzig. 1925. 

Hardback  is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

  • Decorated covers with gilt illustration are in very good condition with some wear to the finish and edges. 
  • Corners are scuffed with partly exposed boards. 
  • Spine is sunned with gilt lettering and design detail and firm ends. 
  • Binding is firm. 
  • Includes publisher's ribbon placemark. 
  • Rear hinge is slightly cracked along the top 1" portion. 
  • Frontispiece is clean and accompanied by tissue guard. 
  • Signed plates are present and clean with accompanying tissue guard, some of which are lightly creased. 
  • Interior is gently age-toned. 
  • Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
  • Text block features gilt to top edge. 
  • Book may exhibit additional minor signs of age or wear.

Ferdinand Staeger was a prolific German painter and graphic artist who produced art from Germany throughout the 20th century. He also worked as an illustrator and designer of patterns for tapestries and lace.[Wikipedia]
