Catalogue with introductory essays published in conjunction with an exhibition devoted to the work of Kawanabe Kyosai, which was on view at the British Museum from December 1993 - February 1994.  Kyosai (1831-1889) was a virtuoso painter of Japan during a period of transition for that country.  Both prolific and a lover of performance and the macabre, Kyosai's images have inspired Manga and tatoo artists.
