First American edition.  Boston and New York:  Houghton Mifflin Company, 1934  

Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD- condition, with a GOOD DJ under Mylar.

  • Hot pink covers with black title. 
  • Boards show some smudges, edgewear.  Corners are scuffed, with exposed board.  See photos.
  • Spine has black text and is faded, stained, with crushed, chipped ends.  See photos.
  • Binding is secure. 
  • Pastedowns and feps have some light staining, owner's marks.
  • Interior is gently age-toned.  Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
  • DJ is nicely preserved behind Mylar and is backed with archival paper.
  • Photo illustrated DJ has some edgewear, chipped corners, chipping along head edge, bumping along foot edge, some staining to back, sunning to spine panel and a 1"x1.5" chip.  See photos.

First American Edition.  Publisher's original hot pink cloth in photo-illustrated dust jacket.  Light wear to jacket extremities, red portion of spine faded to tan, chipping to spine panel not affecting text.  Cloth to covers is bright, spine shows wear at ends and a stain.  Very Good Minus overall.  "A Scotland Yard Mystery" (upper jacket panel), featuring the detective Horace Augustus Elver.

George Dilnot (1883–1951) was an English writer and novelist, specialising in crime novels in which he drew on his early experience as a police officer and journalist.
