Frank Joseph Forster (1886–1948) was an American architect who designed homes, many in the New York Metropolitan area, during the early 20th century. Forster described the style of his work as Norman Farmhouse, French Provincial, or Domestic Gothic. He also wrote two books about the French Provincial architecture style. Country Houses shows Forster's work on sixteen houses.
The black and white woodcuts are the work of Hubert R. Bishop, who worked under the moniker of H.R. Bishop. An American printmaker and architectural illustrator active during the 1920s and 1930s, Bishop is an exemplar of the American Graphic Art and Architectural Print movement.
