First Edition.  Large octavo.  Publisher's green cloth with pictorial title plate laid on.  Full color illustrated plates are all present.  Ownership page is inscribed in a youthful hand.  One of the 'Famous Oz Books,' the very popular children's fantasy series.  Generously illustrated, large type suitable for young readers or reading aloud.  A Very Good indeed copy of this first issue.

L. Frank Baum (1856-1919), the self-styled "Royal Historian of Oz," was the author of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900), which garnered both critical acclaim and financial success.  Baum wrote thirteen further Oz titles based on the places and people of the Land of Oz.  Glinda of Oz is the last of these books, "In which are related the Exciting Experiences of Princess Ozma of Oz, and Dorothy, in their hazardous journey to the home of the Flatheads, and to the Magic Isle of the Skeezers, and how they were rexcued from dire peril by the sorcery of Glinda the Good."

The illustrations are the work of John Rea Neill (1877–1943), a magazine and children's book illustrator.  Neill illustrated more than thirty books set in the Land of Oz.  Those books include all but one of those written by L. Frank Baum, as well as those written by Ruth Plumly Thompson, and three that Neill himself wrote.
