A very good copy, with all twelve illustrated plates present, of the 1845 Revised Copy of this classic account of the Indian Wars.  First published in Boston in 1716, Church's History of "King Philip's War" was reissued in 1772.  Samuel G. Drake, the editor of the nineteenth century editions, worked from the 1772 edition to prepare the 1827 edition.

With the Revised Edition of 1845, the editor worked to correct the text based on "more recent publications of high authority," and he changed some "obsolete and objectionable words and phrases."  While Samuel Drake was aiming for an authentic and valuable contribution to Indian History, he acknowledged that "the interesting personal narrative of Col. Church will doubtless engage the attention of the reader."
