Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

• Brown cloth covers are mostly clean, with pale green text and illustration. 
• Boards show a bump to head of top board, some edgewear.  Corners are bumped, scuffed.  See photos.
• Spine has gilt text dimmed and is darkened with crushed ends.  See photos.
• Binding is secure. 
• Pastedowns and feps have some light staining, bookseller marks in pencil. 
• Interior is gently age-toned, more so at margins.  Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
• Text block edges have deckle fore and foot edges, hand cut edges at head.

First Edition.  The Keynotes Series #13.  Cover and title page design by Aubrey Beardsley.  Publisher's olive brown boards with palest green inked illustration and title.  Top board is bumped at the head, spine is darkened with title dimmed and ends crushed.  Interior is gently toned, free of marks.  Publisher's advertising catalogues for The Keynotes Series and Belles Lettres are at the back of the volume.  Overall, a handsome, stylish volume, protected by an acetate wrap.  Condition is Very Good.

The first novel written by the English author and women's suffrage advocate Evelyn Sharp (1869-1955), who is best known for her children's books.  At the Relton Arms was part of the publisher John Lane's Keynotes Series of Novels and Short Stories, which were issued in London between 1893 and 1897.  The early titles, including ours, were designed by Aubrey Beardsley (1872-1898), who provided the full aesthetic suite (front cover, title page, and key logo).   

Printed in Edinburg by T. & A. Constable, printers to Her Majesty.  Copyright edition also published in Boston by Roberts Brothers.
