Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD condition, with a GOOD DJ under Mylar.

  • Blue cloth covers.  Boards show some smudges, marks around edges, edgewear.  Corners are a little scuffed.  See photos.  
  • Spine has gilt text and is bright with scuffed ends.  See photos.
  • Binding is strong. 
  • Pastedowns and feps have some staining. 
  • Interior is gently age-toned.  Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
  • Text block edges have ink at head, some foxing to fore and foot edges. 
  • DJ is nicely preserved behind Mylar and is backed with archival paper..
  • DJ has some edgewear, chipped corners, closed tears and chips at head and foot, some staining to back, front return is clipped.  See photos.

A very good copy, with dust jacket, of this collection of lectures by J. Robert Oppenheimer (1904-1967).  Delivered over a ten year period, the lectures address two subjects: atomic weapons, and the relationship between science and the wider culture of post-WWII America.
