Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

• Publishers dark green cloth covers have blind tooling, gilt title and illustration. 
• Boards show some wear, smudges, rubbing, edgewear.  Corners are bumped, scuffed.  See photos.
• Spine has gilt text and ornament and is rubbed, with bumped, frayed ends.  See photos.
• Binding is secure.  Stitches visible at many openings. 
• Pastedowns and feps have some foxing, staining, pencil marks, owner's marks.  See photos.
• Frontispiece is present. 
• Illustrations are clear. 
• Interior is gently age-toned, exhibits marginal toning and staining, scattered foxing, light edgewear.  See photos.

Overall, a very good, scarce copy of this anonymously written guide to Niagara Falls.  First edition, second (corrected) state, in publisher's dark green cloth, with blind stamping and gilt illustration.  

Narrated in the voice of a garrulous older relative and addressed to two children, Charles and Lily.  "Cousin George" guides the children and the reader around Niagara Falls and its environs.

Envisioned as part of a series, "Cousin George's Series;" a note at the rear from the publisher announces a subsequent volume which continues the journey downstream.

The end papers have two distinct owner inscriptions.  First, "Joseph Lloyd, presented to him by his Uncle Richard Lloyd 1847,"  on the front pastedown.  On a subsequent end paper, "John G. Bullock, 12 mo. 14th 1862 (blot), from his Grandmother."  

Corrected second state of the first edition.  Title page reads "Illustrated With Numerous Engravings And Correct Maps," though there are no maps present.  Printed in Buffalo at the Press of Jewett, Thomas and Company.
