A Very Good- copy of this volume housing four titles.  Publisher's black grosgrain boards are browned with age and exposure, with wear to all edges.  Text in double columns.  Interior condition varies from title to title, with "Austria" being tanned (as are other copies in commerce).  Binding is secure.

All four titles are by Johann Georg Kohl (1808-1878), a German travel writer, historian, and geographer.

An interesting provenance.  At front pastedown is a bookplate with the name "Parry."  The first title page is inscribed Richard Randolph Parry, 1849.  An inscription on the front fep reads, "RR Parry, From his cousins RA & MW Ely, 4 mo 1849."  He would have been fourteen years old at the time.  The Parry family of New Hope, Bucks County, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was a prominent Quaker family. "The Old Parry Mansion," erected by Benjamin Parry (known as the "father of New Hope") in 1784, is the current home of the New Hope Historical Society.  Richard (1835-1928), one of Benjamin's grandsons, worked as a banker in Minnesota before returning to settle in New Hope in 1862.  He worked as president of the New Hope Delaware Bridge Company and was a member of both the Bucks County Historical Society and the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.

Four titles bound together.  Russia (2 volumes) 1843, Austria (1844), England & Wales (1846), Scotland (1844).
