Waldemar George (1893-1970), the influential Parisian art critic, approached Picasso with the idea of reproducing some of the famed artist's work in book form.  The result was this book: Picasso, Dessins.  It includes works by Picasso then owned by Gertrude Stein, Paul Rosenberg, Alphonse Kahn and others, plus unpublished works.  The plates testify to the masterful output of Picasso from 1905-1925.  Printed by the notable French firm of Ducros et Colas, this book is a wonderful example not only of Picasso’s early work but of French book printing in the 1920s.

Inscribed on the front free end paper, "To Ellis -- An indulgence of his decorative (shall we say) nature from that staunch detractor.  Dick.  10/18/36"

Of this First Edition, 100 numbered copies were printed on Arches Vellum paper and issued with an original lithograph by Picasso.  This copy is NOT one of the edition of 100.
