Softback is overall in VERY GOOD+ condition.

  • Blue wraps are mostly clean, with facsimile signature in white.  Wraps show a smudge, a little edgewear.  Corners are sharp.  See photos.  
  • Spine shows a little exposure, tiny knicks to color at ends.  
  • Binding is secure. 
  • End papers/ pastedowns show little to no sign of age or wear.  
  • Frontispiece, full-page photograph of the artist, is present.
  • Illustrations, black and white photographs, are bright and clear. 
  • Interior is gently age-toned, more at margins.  Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.

A Very Good copy of this scarce volume, the second volume in a facsimile edition of Henri Matisse's notebook sketches for his first series of "Blue Nudes I-IV."  Paper wraps of violet blue with the artist's name in white.  A little darkened along the spine; interior is unmarked and photographs bright.

Published just a year after the artist's death (Henri Matisse 1869-1954), the essay is by Jean Cassou, with photographs by Hélène Adant.  Volume 1, absent here, is a facsimile of Matisse's notebook, wraps with o-wire binding. 

Edition of 500 copies.  This is copy #24 of Volume 2, the companion essay.
