Including an appendix with a variety of precedents for the use of justices of the peace, sheriffs, attorneys and conveyancers, adapted to the several acts, this antique volume is a record of all the laws, on courts, elections, militia, cattle, land, and more which have been written in the history of Pennsylvania for the US Commonwealth. Includes the Constitution of the United States of America at the beginning of the volume. 468 pages + 28 annex pages. 5.5 x 8.5 inches.

Hardback is overall in GOOD condition.

  • Volume is in overall good condition with strong rubbing, scuffing, and some cracking on covers and mild to moderate commensurate toning inside, with occasional staining.
  • Leather covers are strongly scuffed and show some exposed parts due to rubbing and cracking. 
  • Leatherbound.
  • Boards exhibit severe edgewear with chipping and exposed parts along borders, as well as partial detachment of front cover, which is still sewn to text block. (See photos)
  • Corners are mildly bumped with exposed boards.
  • Spine has red text block with faded gilt text and filigree, and shows pronounced overall rubbing, with cooked tail and some chips at head.
  • Binding is firm along gutter, with some play at hinges mostly on front where cover is partially detached. 
  • Rear hinge is split at head and tail on a short length, with some remnants of a torn ffep. (See photos)
  • Front hinge is cracked and broken, and secured with binding threads.
  • Endpapers display ex-libris signature of owner on front as well as an ink signature at rear.
  • Endpapers are severely toned and stained with a damp stain covering all edges of rear, and severe edge wear as well as holes in the paper, exposing pastedown. (See photos)
  • Interior is mildly to moderately age-toned with occasional staining, mostly marginal, as well as a persistent damp stain along lower edge on first and last pages. (See photos)
  • Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
  • Inside pages display some edgewear from occasional creasing, chipping and irregularities, notably on ffeps.
  • Text block edges are strongly toned, and display a stain on head near gutter, as well as a severe damp stain from inside, all along foot and to lower right corner. (See photos)
  • Book may exhibit additional minor signs of age or wear.
