The mysterious art of Hiroshi Watanabe is explored with exceptional intimacy and depth in this collection, that features some of the artist's trademark monochrome works. His style here highlights the quiet, lonely moments of nature or the city, and capture the everyday life with an insight that makes commonplace scenes a striking spectacle. Soap bubbles in the wind, birds resting on a net, a silhouette behind a window, become part of the spectacle of life, conveying the atmosphere that passes in an instant, and is revived through the picture.

Hiroshi Watanabe (b. 1951) is an American-Japanese photographer. Based in California, he is the other of several books including "Ideology of Paradise" which was published in Japan, as well as the winner of several prizes which include the Santa Fe Center Project Competition First Prize, for his work of North Korea in 2008. He is now a full-time photographer, and his work is part of the permanent collection of the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, George Eastman House, and Santa Barbara Museum of Arts.
