Hardback set is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

  • Tan covers have titles and illustration in lapis blue and gilt.  Boards show some smudges, marks, edgeware.  Corners are scuffed. 
  • Spines have gilt text on blue ground and are a little scuffed, with bumped, crushed ends.
  • Bindings are strong. 
  • Illustrated end papers/ pastedowns have maps and reference lists; show little sign of age or wear.  A bookseller mark inside Volume 1.
  • Illustrations are bright and clear.  Black and white photographs in text, with blocks of full color photographs.  
  • Interiors exhibit some marginal toning.  Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
  • Text block edges have a few marks.
