A story of adventure in America's "wild west," from the author who established The Western genre. Zane Grey followed CJ "Buffalo" Jones (who also signed the book) into the unsettled lands of Western America, and this is his book about the experience.

Out of more than 90 books, this is one of the author's earliest books, and clearly established the inspiration for his most popular books. It is illustrated with 26 B&W photographic plates from the trip.

In September 2014, the book was professionally and beautifully recased, with Japanese tissue repairs to the spine areas, as well as repair of bumped corners, and new inner hinges, by David Donahue Restorations of Philadelphia. (As noted in documentation.)

This special copy was signed by the people featured in the book ("With compliments of the Last Plainsmen,") as well as by "the author Zane Grey." Although missing the rare original dust jacket, it remains an exceptional and rare collectible. 314 pages + pages of publisher's ads. 5.75 x 8.5 inches.
