THE KNIGHTS OF PYTHIAS COMPLETE MANUAL AND TEXTBOOK by John Van Valkenburg 1887

Product Description

The Knights of Pythias Complete Manual and Textbook

by John Van Valkenburg

Founded on the teachings of Pythagoras the Knights of Pythias embrace and exemplify friendship through the virtues illustrated in the legend of Damon and Pythias. This comprehensive tract lays the foundation of the orders origins and development, science and philosophy and the various achievements. This edition features various illustrations including the Memorial Charts used to indicate the initiates ranking, illustrations from the legend of Damon and Pythias, emblems and symbols, and portraits of influential members.

"Masonry, Odd-Fellowship, an Pythian Knighthood are all links of one chain, and powerful agencies in the refinement, culture, and elevation of fallen man. Our great exemplars lived and flourished on the plains of Sicily over two thousand years ago; and though their bodies have long since mouldered into dust, their spirits and deeds survive them, and to-day animate and fire the hearts of nearly two hundred thousand brave Knights." 502 pages. 7.75" by 5.75".

Revised Edition.
