Very scarce 1867 publication. Subtitle continues: chiefly according to the systems of D'arpentigny and Desbarrolles with some account of the Gipsies. Covers palmistry as a science, ancient palmistry, Chinese hands, mixed hands, the female hands, the hand of the philosopher, the hand as affected by marriage and much more. 349 pages followed by two pages of books by publisher. 5.5" by 8".

Hardback is overall in GOOD condition.

• Illustrated.
• Dark blue cloth boards.
• Back board shows large dark stain.
• Boards are lightly scuffed.
• Corners are worn with exposed boards.
• Back board shows 1" portion of loose cloth.
• Spine shows wear to all areas including 1.5" by .5" strip missing from head, 4" crack along shoulder of spine where cloth is detached, and chipping and fraying to tail.
• Front pastedown shows bubbles and pencil marks.
• Ffep shows signature in pencil.
• Minimal foxing and soiling throughout however interior is clean and text legible.
• Front hinge cracked with webbing.
• 2" portion of illustration page between pages 28/29 is detached at lower end.
• Gutters show significant wrinkling.
• Binding is mildly cracked between pages 176/177.
• Binding is pliant though secure.
• No writing, highlighting, underlining or other intentional marks.
• Book may exhibit additional minor signs of age or wear.
