• Publisher's green cloth covers have gilt text and illustration. 
• Boards show some exposure, smudges, wear, edgewear.  Corners are scuffed, with exposed board.  See photos.  
• Spine has gilt text and is a little faded with crushed, frayed ends.
• Binding is secure; some splitting to feps at back cover.  See photos. 
• Pastedowns and feps have some toning, a bookseller sticker, owner's marks.
• Frontispiece is present and has intact tissue guard.  
• Illustrations are bright and clear, plates are tipped-in, with some marginal age-toning, have tissue guards with captions.
• Interior is gently age-toned, exhibits 1" closed tear at foot of page viii.  See photos. 
• Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
• Text block edges have a few marks.

Very good copy of this first edition of Shakespeare's Tempest, in original publisher's cloth decorated in gilt, and featuring forty color plates with illustrations by French-British illustrator Edmund Dulac (1882-1953).  Boards show some exposure and wear to spine.  Interior, on heavy stock, is very good.
