From Fantagraphics Books, three sharp volumes of Nancy comic strips, with introductions, in a reprint first edition.  Easy to hold and read, with six strips on every opening, three years of daily strips in each volume.  The pure graphic quality of Ernie Bushmiller's drawings is front and center in these books.

Drawn by Ernie Bushmiller from 1938-1982, Nancy still appears in daily newspapers and is one of the most instantly recognizable strips.  Much has been written about this eternally eight-year old girl.  Comics theorist Scott McCloud calls Nancy "a landmark achievement: A comic so simply drawn it can be reduced to the size of a postage stamp and still be legible; an approach so formulaic as to become the very definition of the 'gag-strip.'  Nancy is Plato's playground.  Ernie Bushmiller didn't draw A tree, A house, A car.  Oh, no.  Ernie Bushmiller drew the tree, the house, the car."  Cartoonist Wally Wood summed up Nancy's design more succinctly: "By the time you decided not to read it, you already had."

First edition.
