The Italian Jewish painter and sculptor Amedeo Modigliani is known for his modern-style faces and nudes with characteristically elongated faces, necks and figures, which in his lifetime were not well-received, but found acceptance later on. This monograph offers a documented overview of his lifework, based on a rich catalog of works, mostly portraits, that constitute the foreground for a deep analysis of his life, artistic influences and the various personalities that shaped him into the special artist he became. 413 pages. 9.5 x 11 inches.

Lavishly illustrated with full-color and B&W reproductions of artworks and portraits, as well photographs. Includes many historical and biographical essays by various writers. Includes a list of solo and group exhibitions, as well as a bibliography.
